Release-Clarity-Softness-Gratitude:

How I changed my mindset and way of living.

Setting Goals

When setting goals, there is an overwhelming excitement like a little kid who wants to obtain the next toy. And this is quite natural to feel, in order to get on track towards achieving this goal. (Even though this excitement is just for setting the momentum of the pursuit. You need other tools as well to keep yourself consistent on this goal-oriented “hunt”, but this is a theme for another time to discuss.)

However, this excitement may lead you to overgrip on the highly sought-after result of your actions, and, consequently, anxiety of failing or losing increases even more. Pursuing a goal is great. But, letting the things just unfold is even greater.

Fear of the Future

Throughout my life, I haven’t stopped struggling or putting the effort needed to accomplish my professional goals. There have been really hard times where life just happened and I had to go on being present in my profession and become even better and learn even more skills to evolve and move to the next level. Several situations that I’ve been through had increased the feeling of uncertainty and fear.

I always kept going, even slightly intimidated by the future.

What’s Next?

But then, a time in my life came when I started being bored and tired of being anxious of what will be. This is the instinct of preservation of energy. I quit focusing on the result, and embraced the feeling of presence. I started focusing on HOW I want to feel- NOT WHO I want to be.

The Change

A sense of Releasing came to weaken fear and give space to Clarity. Everything has changed.

Sometimes now -or, many times!- I question myself if I really want this or that, and I feel so much NOT interested in pursuing anything at all! This may feel really weird at times, but I’ve learned to listen to it and observe how my inner True Self eventually starts moving to action through this stillness and inaction.

I rediscover the innate drive of the Self to express itself. Because this is Its True Nature. And this is where we get to the quality of Softness.

Soft towards myself, towards the changes, towards other people, towards life. Things that I like to do are already becoming more present in my life. Writing, photography, filming yoga videos, travelling for climbing and being in nature are where I feel at home.

The Essence

And then comes the essence of being present, which in one word is: Gratitude. Being content with what is. The truth is, it’s been really difficult for me to understand the meaning of being grateful. Well, I didn’t need to understand it though, because I already live it.

The Key

Moving forward and exploring (one of my favourite words) and pursuing, yes, it gives you the thrill of aliveness! But keeping your feet to the present is the Key to embrace your precious life and be aligned with your True Self.
