I’m Not Setting New Year’s Resolutions- here’s what I’m doing instead.

So, here again, another year has passed by, and 2026 has come with new hopes, inspirations, goals, resolutions. The New Year’s Day always brings this expectation of change and the focus on goals and “to-do” lists.
The previous year for me was challenging enough and a variety of intense emotions has enriched my everyday life. And I say “enriched” because these challenges and emotions have truly guided me to reassess my perspective and bring to the forefront my deep values rather than any wishes and hopes of the mind.
I’ve found out, at least in my point of view, that if you focus so much on plans and analysing the steps to an “achievement”, somehow it is really easy to lose track of your own inner valuable rhythm. This rhythm is the Essence of your Being.
One of my top priorities has become to step a little back every day and find a body feeling of calm and peace, instead of rushing into the hamster wheel and being stressful of what the future may bring.
Pause. Listen. See. Breathe. And observe things from the back seat.
Do your part and Life-Universe-God will bring the rest. I know it is not easy to let go, but this is so liberating and gives you so much space to rest in yourself, that eventually you become able to see that Time is expanding rather than being limited.
One practice I would suggest that you can do so as you can discover this inner calm in the present is the following:
At the end of the day, when everything is quiet, just think of an event in your day that “made” you to rush and act not consciously enough, and that you believe you could have handled the situation with more clarity in mind and softness in your body. Visualise this different “scenario”. Ask yourself: “What do I really gain if I rush? Is it worth it or could I have an even better result if I had acted more calmly and consciously?”
This is a great start to move into a more mindful and peaceful way of living, and as you go on, you see how you can integrate this practice into your daily life.
Peace of mind and soft heart are already inside you. Why not begin the year from sensation instead of ambition?
Sit back and enjoy the music!..
